OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's volleyball team was defeated on the road Monday evening, falling to SUNY Old Westbury in four sets.
Scores for the contest were 25-22, 25-22, 16-25 and 25-20.Â
With the result, the Panthers of Purchase are now 8-11 overall and 7-2 in the Skyline Conference. For the Panthers of Old Westbury, they moved to 7-8 and 4-6, respectively.
On the night, the visitors beat themselves as they finished with 29 hitting errors to just 14 for the hosts. In total, Purchase had 51 kills on a .162 hitting percentage.
Behind the errors, Old West prevailed three times to steal the match, as it held off late charges by the Blue and Orange each time.
Individually,
Hector Ruiz (SO/Bronx, NY) powered the effort with a match-high 18 kills, three aces and a block assist.
Danny Kanner (FY/Smithtown, NY) added 45 assists and 10 digs, while
Joey Toscano (SO/Levittown, NY) totaled 13 digs.
Up next for the squad is more Skyline action, as it travels to Manhattanville University on March 25th at 6 p.m.
