RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's volleyball team cruised to a road win Thursday evening, topping the University of Mount Saint Vincent in straight sets.
Scores for the contest were 25-23, 25-15 and 25-15.
With the win, the Panthers moved to 4-9 overall and 3-0 in the Skyline Conference. For the Dolphins, they dropped to 5-8 and 1-3, respectively.
In the opening frame, the two sides kept things close as neither side led by more than four points. With that, it was actually the Blue and Orange who trailed late and needed to rally back for the win.
With the comeback-set win empowering the guests, Purchase proceeded to cruise in the subsequent stanzas to seal the conference victory.
Overall, the Panthers finished with 33 kills on .301 hitting, while the hosts managed totals of 22 and .054, respectively.
Individually,
Jael Martinez (JR/Bronx, NY) led the way with 13 points (10 kills, three aces), while
Hector Ruiz (SO/Bronx, NY) added 10 kills on .412 hitting.
Danny Kanner (FY/Smithtown, NY) collected 26 assists and eight digs, while
Luca Valeriano (FY/Bronx, NY) recorded seven digs, five kills and four solo blocks.
Up next for the squad is more Skyline road action as it travels to Yeshiva University on March 8th at 8 p.m.
