Panthers Thwarted in Skyline Opener

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's lacrosse team was thwarted at home Wednesday night, dropping a tight contest to Mount Saint Mary College by the score of 5-3.

With the result, the Panthers are now 1-5 overall and 0-1 in the Skyline Conference. For the Knights, they moved to 3-6 and 1-0, respectively.

In the low-scoring affair, the guests were leading at halftime after just a single goal came during the first 30 minutes.

In the third quarter, an individual effort from Chandler Redwood (JR/Dayton, OH) tied things, before the visitors retook the lead for good just 20 seconds later.

Over the remaining period, the Knights scored three times in a row, before another strike from Redwood moved the score to 4-2.

In the fourth, the two sides traded goals as Ryan Haberski (FY/Saugerties, NY) found the back of the net for the Panthers.

In the end, extra-man opportunities sunk the hosts, as Purchase went just 1-for-5 on the chances.

Individually, Redwood finished with the two goals, two ground balls and a caused turnover, while Zach Scott (SO/West Babylon, NY) tallied an assist and ground ball.

In goal, TJ Pasqualini (SO/West Harrison, NY) had 14 saves and a ground ball in the loss.

Up next for the squad is a road Skyline game at Farmingdale State College on April 8th at 4 p.m.
