Purchase Bested by Manhattanville

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College softball team dropped a pair of home games Saturday afternoon, falling to Manhattanville University by the scores of 8-0 and 14-0.

With the result, the Panthers are now 11-13 overall and 3-5 in the Skyline Conference. For the Valiants, they moved to 21-7 and 10-0, respectively.

Game One: Manhattanville 8, Purchase 0 (5 inn.)

In the opening game, the hosts kept things close most of the way until six runs in the fifth inning tilted the game in favor of the guests.

Overall, the Blue and Orange finished with four hits, as Mel Harper (JR/Patchogue, NY) recorded two of them.

On the mound, Bryce Kane (FY/Westborough, MA) pitched a complete game. She allowed eight runs (four earned) on 10 hits with two strikeouts.

Game Two: Manhattanville 14, Purchase 0 (5 inn.)

The final game of the day saw the two sides stay close early once again, before the Valiants exploded late to put the game away.

Offensively, the Panthers finished with two hits. Liv Goff (JR/Syracuse, NY) was tagged with the loss, after she allowed seven runs on 10 hits over 3.2 innings.

Up next for the squad is a road doubleheader at Mount Saint Mary College on April 21st at 3 p.m.
