Baseball Falls at St. Joseph's-LI

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. - The Purchase College baseball team dropped a pair of games Monday afternoon, falling at St. Joseph's University-Long Island by the scores of 8-5 and 8-4.

With the results, the Panthers moved to 14-15 overall and 7-5 in the Skyline Conference. For the Golden Eagles, they jumped to 15-15 and 11-3, respectively.

Game One: St. Joseph's 8, Purchase 5 (7 inn.)

On the day, the hosts scored the first eight runs of the contest, before the Blue and Orange began to battle back with four runs in the fourth inning and one more in the fifth.

In the end though, the guests failed to plate another run as they dropped the matchup.

Overall, Purchase finished with nine hits as Tristen Abreu (SR/Queens, NY), Patrick Reyes (SR/Plainedge, NY) and Tyler Della Mura (SR/Rye Brook, NY) each had a pair of hits.

On the hill, starter Christian Miesegaes (JR/Staten Island, NY) was tagged with the loss. He allowed seven runs on nine hits over two innings.

Game Two: St. Joseph's 8, Purchase 4

In the final game, the Panthers scored first thanks to an RBI-single from Liam Daly (SR/Babylon, NY), before six straight runs from the hosts flipped the script.

Purchase trimmed the margin to 6-4 in the seventh inning, but that was as close as it got in the effort.

Overall, the bats produced 12 hits for the Blue and Orange, as Brian Saldana (JR/Middletown, NY) led the way with a trio.

On the mound, Brandon Reybok (SR/Lindenhurst, NY) collected the loss. He allowed four runs on three hits over two innings in the start.

Up next for the squad is a home doubleheader with the University of Mount Saint Vincent on April 25th at 11 a.m.
