BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Purchase College softball team split a doubleheader Monday evening, winning the first before dropping the second game at Brooklyn College.
With the results, the Panthers are now 11-7 overall, while the Bulldogs are now 5-17.
Game One: Purchase 14, Brooklyn 0 (5 inn.)
The Blue and Orange cruised in the opening contest, as they rolled past the hosts. At the plate, the Panthers finished with 14 runs on 13 hits.
Natalie Gallo (FY/West Haven, CT) led the effort with a triple, a double, three RBIs, a run and walk. She was one of six players to have two hits on the day.
On the mound,
Bryce Kane (FY/Westborough, MA) collected the win after allowing just three hits over five innings.
Game Two: Brooklyn 7, Purchase 6
The second contest was a much closer affair. Despite an early deficit, the Panthers rallied to grab the lead 6-5 in the sixth inning, before two runs for the hosts flipped the game in their favor.
Overall, the squad finished with eight hits, as
Devynn Hernandez (JR/Ossining, NY) led the offense with two hits, an RBI and two runs.
On the mound,
Ava Knox (SO/Mahopac, NY) was tagged with the loss. She allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits over an inning of work.
Up next for the squad is a return home as they host Western Connecticut State University on April 9th at 3:30 p.m.
