BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The SUNY Purchase women's soccer team opened the 2026 season with a 2-2 tie Saturday afternoon at Brooklyn College.
With the result, the Panthers are now 0-0-1, while the Bulldogs moved to 0-1-2.
The guests started the game and year quickly, thanks to a converted penalty from
Lindita Selmani (SR/Brooklyn, NY) in the 12th minute.
Brooklyn then tied the game just before halftime, as the two sides entered the break at 1-all.
In the second half, the Blue and Orange responded with another strike, as
Hanna Pokines (FY/Scotia, NY) scored her first collegiate goal in the 68th minute.Â
However, the hosts again found an answer just eight minutes later to tie things up at 2-2, where the game eventually finished.
The Panthers tallied four shots in the effort, including three on goal. Selmani led the way with the goal and an assist. In goal,
Jill Creegan (JR/High Falls, NY) totaled three saves.
Up next for the squad is a matchup with Pratt Institute on September 17th at 6 p.m. The game will be played at Purchase.
