WILKES-BARRE, Penn. - The SUNY Purchase women's volleyball team split a pair of games Saturday afternoon, as it competed in a tri-match down at King's College.
Game One: King's 3, Purchase 0 (25-9,25-14 and 25-16)
Overall, the Blue and Orange finished with 20 kills on a negative hitting percentage.
Maya Brown (SR/Carteret, NJ) finished with six kills and nine digs to lead the effort.Â
Lily Dos Santos (FY/Briarcliff Manor) added nine assists, while
Marcella Pena (SR/Bronx, NY) led the Panthers with 15 digs.
Game Two: Purchase 3, Medgar Evers 0 (25-6, 25-12 and 25-5)
The second game saw things completely flip around for Purchase, as it cruised to a win. While the team again finished with 20 kills, they did so on .444 hitting this time around.
Brown totaled a game-high eight kills, while Dos Santos chipped in eight assists.
However, the big performance in game two belonged toÂ
Natalia Leite (SR/Thornwood, NY). She finished with 15 points, 12 aces, eight assists and six digs, all of which led the Panthers.
With the split result, the Blue and Orange moved to 1-2 on the young season.
Up next for the squad is more non-conference road action as it faces CCNY on September 15th at 7 p.m.
