PURCHASE, N.Y. - The SUNY Purchase men's soccer team dropped a home contest late Wednesday night, falling to Brooklyn College by the score of 3-2.
With the result, the Panthers moved to 1-4-1 overall. For the Bulldogs, they now stand at 2-1-3.
On the night, the hosts scored first in each half to take the lead.
In the first frame, it was a
Jacob Pence (SO/Asbury, NJ) sixth-minute penalty that pushed the Blue and Orange ahead, before a Brooklyn penalty just seven minutes later tied things up.
Following halftime, Purchase regained the lead after
Parker Lewis (SO/Binghamton, NY) knocked in a ball deep in the box in the 52nd.
From there, the hosts remained in control until the 79th minute, when the guests tied things up. Then just two minutes later, the Bulldogs stole the lead with a chip-shot goal to go ahead, 3-2.
Brooklyn then hung on for the win, as the Panthers left the field frustrated after losing a winnable contest.Â
Despite the defeat, the hosts played well, finishing with 10 shots, including five on goal, and eight corner kicks.
In goal,
Ryder Lucas (FY/Penfield, NY) collected six saves in the effort.
Up next for the squad is a return to Skyline Conference action, as the team travels to Old Westbury on September 19th at 2:30 p.m.
