Panthers Falter at Old Westbury

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - The SUNY Purchase men's soccer team was bested on the road Saturday, falling to SUNY Old Westbury by the score of 3-2.

With the result, the Panthers of Purchase dropped to 1-5-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the Skyline Conference. For the hosting Panthers, they moved to 2-3-1 and 1-0, respectively.

The guests struck early in the contest, as Jacob Pence (SO/Ashbury, NJ) found the back of goal in the second minute. 

Then in the 20th, Parker Lewis (SO/Binghamton, NY) doubled the advantage off a feed from Pence to put the Blue and Orange in a comfortable position.

However, the hosts got one back later in the first half, before tying things up in the 49th minute.

From there, it remained two-all until the 77th minute, when Old Westbury jumped ahead for good. 

In the end, Purchase fell to their conference rival after producing 13 shots, including seven on goal in the effort.

In goal, Ryder Lucas (FY/Penfield, NY) finished with two saves in the loss.

Up next for the squad is a return home as it hosts CCNY on September 21st at 6 p.m.
