OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - The SUNY Purchase women's soccer team earned a draw to open the Skyline Conference season Saturday, tying with SUNY Old Westbury, 1-1.
With the result, the Panthers of Purchase moved to 0-1-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the league. For the Panthers of OW, they jumped to 1-0-1 and 0-0-1, respectively,
On the day, the hosts struck first as they scored in the 12th minute. The score remained 1-0 for most of the contest until very late, when the guests found an equalizer in the 90th.
The strike came courtesy of
Saige Navara (JR/Hurley, NY), who scored her first career goal in the process. The goal crossed the goal-mouth with just 52 seconds remaining in the contest as Purchase escaped with the result.
Overall, the Panthers finished with 11 total shots and seven on goal. In the net,
Jill Creegan (JR/High Falls, NY) finished with seven saves in the effort.
Up next for the squad is the home opener against Mount Saint Vincent on September 23rd at 6 p.m.
