(Oct. 19, 2010) – SUNY Maritime erupted for seven goals in a 7-0 victory over Purchase Tuesday night at Reinhart Field.
The Privateers improved to 10-7 overall (6-2 Skyline) with the victory, while the Panthers fall to 1-12-2 (0-8-1 Skyline).
Maritime also moves into a tie for second place in the Skyline Conference with Old Westbury. The two teams trail first-place Sage (6-2-1) by just one point.
Maritime's Jason Tursi opened the scoring with a goal in the 21st minute. Tom Federico and John Blunden each recorded a goal and an assist in the victory. Haluk Erdogan and Ryan Nugent scored Maritime's second and third goals, respectively.
In goal, Maritime's Harris Papson picked up his fourth victory of the season after stopping one shot in the first half of play. He was replaced at halftime by Michael Vanadia, who along with John Dunne helped to preserve the shutout in the second half.
