Brooklyn, NY
(Sept. 7, 2010) – Medgar Evers reeled off 27 shots, connecting on four of them in a 4-0 win over visiting Purchase Tuesday night.
The Cougars were too much for the Panthers to handle offensively, especially in the second half, where Medgar broke open an early 1-0 lead by tacking on another three goals to coast to victory.
Purchase fought valiantly to the end as goalkeeper
David Kurzweil (SR/Bedford, NY) made nine saves in defeat.
But Medgar's attack and the pressure it kept on inside its zone produced 16 shots in the first half and another 11 in the second. Kyle Stephen scored the game's first goal at 1:21 on a cross from the right side, with Nicholas Pabhudial picking up the assist. Stephen also scored the team's final goal in the 76th minute. Ancil Porter-Lee and Daniel Joseph scored the two other goals for Medgar.
The Panthers (0-2) finished with four shots on goal, including a pair from
George Kiladze (JR/New York, NY).
The Cougars improved to 3-1 to start the season.
Purchase will try to regroup at Rutgers-Newark Thursday in another non-conference matchup.
