Albany, NY (Dec. 7, 2011) – The Purchase women's basketball team fell to The Sage Colleges, 79-49, in a Skyline Conference contest Wednesday evening. Purchase is now 3-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Three Panthers scored in double figures, with Rachel Perrone (SO/Poughquag, NY) netting 13 points, Alyssa Guido (SR/Cliffside Park, NY) scoring 12 points and Jess Lindsay (SO/Rochester, NY) 10 points.  Perrone also pulled down 10 rebounds for a double-double and Guido grabbed eight boards.

Purchase kept the game close early, behind just a point at 17-16 at the 8:36 mark before the Gators went on a 14-2 run to close the half and take a 32-18 lead at the break. Sage's first half effort was powered by a total of five three point shots.

Sage continued its strong run early in the second half with an 8-1 run to make the score 39-19 at 16:30.  From there, the Gators never looked back. 

Sage (3-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play) was led by Megan Bowman, who finished with a career-high 17 points, while fellow rookie Amie Jefferson netted 13 rebounds. A third freshman, Krysta Vanacore added a career-best 12 points.

Purchase returns to action after the holiday break, hosting neighboring Manhattanville College on Jan. 4 at 6 p.m.
