(Jan. 25, 2012) – Trailing by eight at the break, Purchase made a strong comeback attempt in the second half Wednesday night before visiting Sage held on for a 65-57 win.
The Panthers made it interesting in the second half, matching the Gators with 28 points apiece in the final stanza. Purchase (5-11, 0-8 Skyline Conference) started slow, but showed its mettle in defeat, refusing to go quietly over the final 20 minutes.
Unfortunately, the Panthers are still searching for their first league win of the season. It appeared that victory could be on tap for tonight before Sage used its early cushion to stave off the Panthers.
Alyssa Guido (SR/Cliffside Park, NJ) had another dynamic performance, scoring a game-high 26 points. She nearly recorded a double-double, adding eight rebounds to her credit. Guido's three-point touch propelled the second-half comeback.

Christina Rupp (FR/Ossining, NY) chipped in eight points and eight boards.
The Panthers were outshot 37 to 30 percent for the game, including 42 to 34 percent in the first half.
The slow start led to a 24-8 Sage lead over the opening 10 minutes. However, the Panthers worked their way back, cutting the lead to eight at half.
Sage was paced by Sarah Carciobolo and Carly Vallee, who scored 17 and 16 points, respectively.
The Panthers will now hit the road for four straight.
