Old Westbury, NY (Oct. 20, 2012) – Old Westbury scored an early goal and made it stand up in a 1-0 final against traveling Purchase.

The rival Panthers (4-14, 3-5 Skyline Conference) got the game-winning score off the foot of Scott Carey (3:03). The Old Westbury score was assisted by Michael Bayne and DJ Stock. The shot went high under cross off a header on a direct free kick and it may have pushed Purchase outside the playoff picture on the final day of conference games around the league.

In defeat, Purchase is now 6-8-1 and 3-6 in Skyline play.

Although the final score went in OW's favor, Purchase outshot the hosts, 24-16.  

The Panthers will wrap the regular season in a rescheduled matchup with SUNY New Paltz on Tuesday. The game from earlier this year, part of the Bard Raptors Classic, was postponed and will now be made up on Tuesday at Bard.
