Brooklyn, NY
(Oct. 8, 2012) – York College midfielder Gbolahan Molake had the game-winning goal in double overtime Monday, dropping Purchase in a tough 1-0 final. He scored the match's only goal in the 104th minute to lift the Cardinal's the narrowest of victories in the second overtime.
York was frustrated all night after failing to convert on some chances. The Cardinals took 32 shots, 16 of which were on goal, but came up short in just about every way possible. Purchase keeper
Dylan Hyman (SO/San Francisco) was masterful in goal, turning away 15 shots. It looked like York would have to settle for a 0-0 draw until Molake broke through with the golden goal in the second overtime.
Purchase (5-5-1) didn't have many scoring opportunities in the loss, firing four shots on goal.
