Box Score
Purchase, NY
(Dec. 8, 2012) –The trio of
Jess Lindsay,
Lineker St.Hilaire and
Jalisa Fields were too much for visiting York College Saturday at Purchase.
St. Hilaire (SO/Wyandanch, NY) and Fields (SR/Bronx, NY) each netted double-doubles in a dominating 67-26 victory against the Cardinals, a non-conference rival from the CUNY, while Lindsay (JR/Rochester, NY) shared the game-high in points – 17, with St. Hilaire in another strong offensive performance.
Purchase, which won its second game of the season, improved to 2-6 overall, dropping York to 0-8. The Panthers were dominant from start to finish behind St.Hilaire and Lindsay. Hilaire added 14 rebounds to her 17 points, including nine on the offensive glass. She also dished five assists and swiped six steals in a tremendous all-around effort.
Meanwhile, Fields scored 12 points and grabbed 12 boards for a double-double herself. She also registered four steals.
In addition, York was never really able to get anything going against Purchase's swarming defense. Purchase held York to 26 points on 12-of-54 shooting from the field, and forced 30 turnovers.
York's leading scorer, Ishonda McFarland, scored eight points in defeat.
Purchase's full court press spearheaded the defensive effort. The Panthers led 41-13 at the break and never looked back. The dominating win was a team effort as every player for the Panthers got into the scoring column and all but one recorded a rebound.
Up next, the Panthers will host Yeshiva University on Wednesday as Purchase resumes its conference schedule. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m.
