Power Richard Stockton Bests Purchase

Box Score

Purchase, NY (Oct. 21, 2013) – Richard Stockton, one of the elite programs in the tri-state area, defeated host Purchase 5-0 Monday.

The Ospreys scored two first-half goals and capped the game with three tallies in the second half en route to the victory.

In the process, Richard Stockton improved to 12-3-2 on the fall campaign in the non-conference matchup. The Ospreys, who have beaten several top ranked teams this season, are also 5-2 in the NJAC – arguably the best conference in the northeast and maybe the best in the country.

The game was a good test for the Panthers. Purchase (7-6-2) showed its mettle in the loss, limiting Richard Stockton, especially in the first half, where the game was scoreless for most of the opening period. However, the Ospreys would finally break through and score a pair in the first 45 minutes, eventually distancing itself from the Panthers, who utilized the game as a tune-up with the conference playoffs nearing.

Stockton's Matt Jenne opened the scoring, netting his second goal of the season off an assist from Pat Rafferty. The cross gave the visitors the 1-0 margin. Anthony Colofranson scored his 13th of the season (29:15) on a Chris Katona assist.

Leading 2-0 at half, Stockton kept the pressure on in the second, as Katona scored in reverse – this time getting an assist from Colofranson for a 3-0 lead in the 46th minute.

For Katona, it was his 14th of the season – a mark Colofranson would match in the 47th minute on an unassisted score.

Richard Stockton closed the game on a goal in the 79th minute.  Tim Sost scored his first of the season for the 5-0 final.
