Farmingdale, NY (Oct. 26, 2013) – For the second straight fall, women's tennis went on an extended run in the Skyline Conference Tournament, one that culminated with the Panthers' first ever trip to the title match.

Although Purchase has been a contender from year-to-year, this season's performance may rank as one of the best in recent memory considering the team's relatively new cast and new head coach. Andreea Oncioiu, who made the switch from top assistant to head coach this fall, led the Panthers to an 8-3 campaign.

Purchase completed the fall season in the title match Saturday, falling to No. 1 seed Farmingdale State, 5-1. The second-seeded Panthers, who reached the  semifinals last fall against Mount Saint Mary, featured four brand new faces in singles play and still reached the title match.

"It was a great season," said Oncioiu, whose team will resume its schedule in the spring. "I'm very proud of our women."

FSC claimed its first-ever conference title in Saturday's home win. The victory marked the Rams' eighth straight, as they improved to 12-2 overall.

Farmingdale swept the doubles matches to take the 3-0 advantage.

Then, in singles play, Priscilla Signore gave the Rams a 4-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.

Purchase won at first singles with a 6-2, 6-1 win by Angela Assal (FR/Bronx, NY). The win at fifth singles by FSC's Tatiana Rosamilia would secure the fifth and deciding set for the hosts in the match.

Signore was named the Skyline Most Valuable Player, after posting a 4-0 record in the conference Playoffs at first singles and second doubles.

The Rams will now compete in the Division III NCAA Championship this upcoming May.
