Bronx, NY (Dec. 4, 2013) – Make it six in a row!

The Purchase College men's basketball team, now ranked No. 25 in the country, secured their sixth straight win to kick start the 2013-14 campaign Wednesday night at the College of Mount Saint Vincent.

In the process, the Panthers opened their conference schedule with a "W," going 1-0 in Skyline Conference play after the 69-53 win over the Dolphins. Purchase is now 6-0 overall and is set to host Farmingdale State on Saturday in a rematch of last winter's Skyline title game, as league play resumes before the holiday break.

The Dolphins had a pair of players score in double-figures on the night, led by 19 points from Brandon Serrano, a former Purchase player. The loss was the fifth straight for CMSV.

The hosts scored five of the first seven points in the tilt, with a 3-pointer from Serrano 1:20 into the contest, pushing the Dolphins in front 5-2.

The Panthers answered with a quick 9-0 run covering 4:29 to gain an 11-5 advantage on a Joel Neri (JR/Port Chester, NY) bucket at the 14:11 mark.

The Dolphins would knot the score at 11-11 on a Fraser conversion at 12:22 and would retake the lead at 16-15 on a Jesse Regina jumper with 8:31 remaining before halftime.

The visiting Panthers answered again with a 15-7 spurt to jump in front by seven on a Troy Singleton (JR/Queens, NY) 3-pointer in the final half minute of the first period.

Purchase led 30-25 at the half.

The Panthers built the halftime advantage with a 14-4 edge in paint points and an 8-2 advantage in points off of turnovers. Singleton led the Panthers with eight points at the break, with Serrano leading the Mount with seven tallies.

Mount Saint Vincent came out of the break and scored the first six points of the second half, including a triple from Antonio Johnson, another former Purchase player, to climb in front 31-30 with 17:27 left in regulation.

Following a Serrano jumper at the 17:27 mark, the Mount would score just four points over the next 10:53 of the contest thanks to Purchase's swarming defense.

Purchase would take advantage with a 23-4 run to pull in front 57-35 on a pair of Justin Person (JR/Greenburgh, NY) free-throws with 6:34 left in the half.
Mount Saint Vincent went 1 of 13 from the field over that stretch, while the Panthers converted on six of their 11 chances. Neri led the way with eight points over the run for Purchase. Neri and Andre Nixon (SR/Harlem, NY) each scored 10 points after the break to lead Purchase.

The visitors placed four players in double-figures offensively on the night, led by 16 from Neri on 6-for-10 shooting. He also blocked three shots and secured six rebounds. Nixon and Singleton each finished with 14 points, while David Haughton (SR/Greenburgh, NY) led the Panthers with seven rebounds.

The Dolphins got a game-high 19 points from Serrano on 7-for-17 shooting overall and 10 from Fraser, who finished 5 of 15 from the field.
