Garcia's Standout Performance Lost at CMSV

Dolphins Rally Late for Win

Bronx, NY (Jan. 7, 2014) – Led by Kelly Fraser's fourth double-double of the season and a career-high 16 rebounds from  Brittany Lee, the College of Mount Saint Vincent women's basketball team came-from-behind on Tuesday night to score at 69-58 win over Purchase in its conference opener.
 
The Dolphins never led in the first half and found themselves down by nine points, at 14-5, after a pair of free-throws at the 10:46 mark of the first half. The conversions closed out a 10-1 run for the Panthers covering over six minutes.
 
CMSV would not be able to get closer than five points in the first half, until quick six-point run that got it to within 29-28 on an Andrea Sinaly bucket with 33 seconds left in the period.

Jazmin Garcia (JR/Peekskill, NY) got the Panthers back in front by three with a jumper with nine ticks left, before the Mount got a free-throw from Brooke West to head to the locker room trailing 31-29.

Purchase built its halftime advantage with a 16-6 edge in second chance scoring and was led by Garcia with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Purchase would maintain the lead until Mount Saint Vincent strung together a 10-2 spurt over 2:30 to pull in front for the first time on the night. Christina Barone got the Dolphins in front at the 13:52 mark with a pair of free throws and capped the run with a jumper in the paint to move the Mount in front 46-41.
 
The Dolphins would spread their lead to 10 points at 10:29, before Purchase went on a 12-2 run over 3:23 to knot the score at 54-54 with just over seven minutes to play. That would be the last tie of the game as the Mount went on to close the contest scoring 15 of the final 19 points to secure its first win of the New Year.
 
Fraser paced the Dolphins with 14 points and a game-high 17 rebounds to go along with four blocked shots. 

Garcia led all scorers in the game with 24 points for Purchase and added 14 rebounds and five steals.
