Box ScorePurchase, NY (Nov. 25, 2014) – Senior Alyson Caiazzo scored a game-high 20 points and 24 rebounds to lead the Manhattanville women's basketball team to a 60-43 victory over visiting Purchase College Tuesday evening.
Two Panthers scored in double figures, led by junior
Elizabeth Osowiecki (Franklin Square, NY) with 14 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Senior forward
Jeidar Cole (Bronx, NY) finished with 12 points and nine rebounds.
The Valiants jumped out quick on the Panthers, utilizing back-to-back baskets from Caiazzo in the opening minutes, taking a 6-2 lead after two minutes of play. The Panthers were able to answer Manhattanville, jumping out on a 13-5 run, holding a 16-11 lead with 11:39 left in the half. Down by five, the Valiants started to catch fire, going on a 20-4 run led by Caiazzo and Ashley Raaf, rallying for a 30-20 lead with less than four minutes left in the first. Headed into halftime, Manhattanville held a 32-24 edge over Purchase.
Manhattanville picked up right where they left off, leading by double figures for most of the second half before taking down the Panthers by a final score of 60-43.
The Valiants outscored the Panthers 44-26 on the interior and dominated in rebounds, 52-39. Caiazzo and junior Ashley Franklin finished with a double-double, combining for 40 rebounds in the contest.
In success, Manhattanville (3-1) earned its third consecutive win, while Purchase (1-3) earned its third consecutive loss.
Up next, the Panthers gear up for their home-opener game against non-conference Rutgers-Newark on Monday, Dec. 1. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
