Purchase, NY (Jan. 29, 2015) – The Purchase College women's basketball team, backed by an incredible performance from guard Kristine Viven, pushed top-ranked Farmingdale State Thursday night at home before the Rams pulled away late in a 78-58 final.

Viven (JR/New York, NY) was hot from the start and poured in a game-high 26 points, including 19 in the first half – one that saw Purchase stay within striking distance at intermission, 38-36.

The visiting squad forced the issue in the interior for the first few possessions, taking a 6-0 lead early in the first half. A strong Elizabeth Osowiecki (JR/Franklin Square, NY) drive to the basket and jumper from Viven tied the game at 12.

Although the first-place Rams (9-8, 5-0 Skyline Conference) were strong on the inside, the Panthers kept the game close with perimeter offense. Purchase took its biggest lead of the game at 28-25, when Osowiecki got fouled and converted on a three-point play.

Purchase (2-14, 0-6) didn't start the second half on as high a note, allowing the Rams to take a double-digit lead. As a result, the Rams went up by 12.

Farmingdale's full-court press and tight defense forced 27 turnovers throughout the game.

The top guns for the Panthers were Viven, Osowiecki and Jeidar Cole (SR/Bronx, NY). Viven netted 26 on 12-of-20 shooting, added 12 rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals in a nice all-around effort. The performance turned out to be both a game-high and career best as a Panther.

Osowiecki followed up with 17 points, seven rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal. Cole collected 11 points, 11 boards – eight of her 11 were offensive rebounds – and one assist in a double-double effort.

The top contributors for the Rams were Andrea Desvignes, Nicole Lanteri and Amanda Masson. Desvignes dropped a team-high 25 points, collected five rebounds, handed out five assists and picked four pockets. Lanteri had 20 points, five rebounds, two assists and four steals. Masson chipped in 12 points off the bench.

The Panthers will now host St. Joseph's College-LI Saturday.
