(Feb. 17, 2015) – The final home game of the season for the Purchase College women's basketball team was celebrated in the win column.
The Panthers soundly defeated Yeshiva University, 84-45.
Yeshiva (3-17) opened with the game's first score, a 3-pointer, before the Panthers got more acclimated. The two teams traded hoops through the first 10 minutes.
Purchase (4-19) started to open the lead around the nine-minute marker, taking a 19-12 advantage.
The Panthers would keep pace for the rest of the half en route to a 41-23 margin at the break.
Elizabeth Osowiecki (JR/Franklin Square, NY) was the star of the first half, scoring 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field. She also grabbed six rebounds, dished two assists and swiped two steals over the first 20 minutes.
Kristine Viven (JR/New York, NY) added eight first-half points, five boards, three assists and one steal.
Jeidar Cole (SR/Bronx, NY) netted six points off the bench in the opening half.
YU was led by Julia Owen in the opening period. Owen scored 10 points, accounting for 10 of the team's 23 first-half points.
Purchase doubled up on the lead in the second half for a commanding 60-31 mark en route to the comfortable win.
Four scorers would finish in double figures for the Panthers. Osowiecki posted a dominant performance. She scored 26 points on the night, pulled down nine rebounds and added four assists, one block and two steals.
Allison Haugh (SO/New City, NY) followed with 23 points, seven rebounds, two assists and four steals, while
Michelle Rupelli (FR/Staten Island, NY) recorded 10 points and Cole chipped in 15 off the bench. Viven also added 11 rebounds in the victory.
YU was paced offensively by Owen, who finished with 16 points, and Stephanie Greenberg (14 points) and Simee Rosner (13 points, 10 rebounds).
