Box ScoreDanbury, CT (Feb. 5, 2015) – Five Western Connecticut State University women's basketball players scored in double figures to lead the Colonials to an 89-37 victory over Purchase College at Feldman Arena Thursday night.

Jeidar Cole (SR/Bronx, NY) opened up the scoring and gave the Panthers a 4-0 lead to start the game.
Kristine Viven (JR/New York, NY) added another two points to bring the score to 6-2 in Purchase favor but the Colonials answered back with a quick four points to tie the game at six. On Purchase's next possession,
Michelle Rupelli (FR/Staten Island, NY) made a 3-pointer, assisted by Viven, to put the Panthers back in the lead, 9-6. The lead, however, was short lived as Western outscored Purchase, 31-8, to finish off the first half. Western led, 37-17, as both teams headed to the locker rooms.
The Panthers struggled to keep up with the host offense and continued to fall further behind in the second stanza. Purchase trailed the Colonials by 52 points to end the game.
Western sophomore Samantha Smith led all scorers with 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. Emily Dobson added 14 points for the winners. Caroline Brasa and Colleen Cosker added 11 points each, while freshman Kaitlyn LaBonte contributed 10 markers for Western.
Brasa led all players with 14 rebounds and joined Kerri Stolle with a game-high six assists.
Purchase was led by Cole who scored 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field. Rupellie added 12 points and three for the Panthers.
Purchase, not 3-16, returns home this Saturday for a Skyline Conference game against The College of Mount Saint Vincent starting at noon.
