Kenilworth, NJ
(Sept. 9, 2017) –
Camden Fix was superb.
And the Purchase College men's golf team took second in a tri-match with New Jersey City and SUNY College at Old Westbury Saturday.
NJCU edged Purchase College by one stroke, 342-343, as the Gothic Knights finished first of three teams at the NJCU Fall Tri-Match #1 at the Galloping Hill Golf Course. Both NJCU and Purchase earned wins over third-place finisher OW. Old Westbury shot 372 as a team.
"The rolling hills proved to be a good test for us, finishing in second place by just one shot behind the hosts,"
Panther head coach James Alfredo explained of his team's performance.
Fix (SR/Fulton, NY) was the individual medalist by five strokes over his nearest competitor, shooting a sensational round of 2 (73). He posted three birdies, 11 pars, and shot an even 36 on the front nine.
Teammate
Joseph Hart (SR/Riverhead, NY) was third with a 9 (80), aided by two birdies.
"We went without
Dylan Gethicker (SR/Lime Lake, NY) and
Harry Backer (SR/Yonkers, NY) in the lineup," Alfredo noted. "We were happy to see
Dylan Curran (FR/Yonkers, NY),
Will Burger (FR/Albany, NY) and
Matthew DeWaters (JR/Rochester, NY) compete in this setting. We can definitely build on this one."
The Panthers take on Yeshiva University next Sunday, Sept. 17, at Pelham Bay Golf Course.
