(Sept. 23, 2017) – The Purchase College golf team took advantage of a "gorgeous, 85 degree day" to upend the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Skyline Conference play Saturday at Split Rock.
"What a perfect day," Panther
head coach James Alfredo said. "The par 70, tree-lined golf track proved to be challenging for both team members."
Despite those challenges, the Panthers prevailed, 330 to 444.
"It was a good work-out for our guys and I'm happy with the result. We do need to keep working hard with the objective of reaching our full potential individually, and as a team," Alfredo noted.
Camden Fix (SR/Fulton, NY) and rookie
Will Burger (FR/Albany, NY) led the way for the Panthers, carding 78s.
"It's a golf course that demands accuracy and positioning off of the tee," Fix said.
"In retrospect, we are happy to be striking the ball well, which resulted in our nice scoring," added Burger.
CMSV's Jarrett McLean shot a 94, while lefty Brian Sullivan notched a 120.
Up next for Purchase, the Panthers host Mitchell College Wednesday at Tamarack Country Club in Greenwich. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
