PURCHASE, NY – Purchase College hosted the William Paterson Pioneers in a non-conference swim meet Tuesday evening. The Panthers swam hard against the visitors, but were outdone in the end, falling 96-67 on the women's side and 94-68 on the men's side.  

Results

William Paterson's strong start was guided by wins in the 200-yard medley relay. Leah Santonastaso and James Sharkey continued the strong start with victories in the women's and men's 1000-yard freestyle, respectively.

Purchase's Lizzie Cartwright (FR/Middletown, NY) got the home team up on the board with a first-place finish in the women's 200-yard freestyle. Brienne Westfall (FR/Grand Island, NY) added another nine points for PC after finishing atop the competition in the 200-yard IM.

On the men's side, Aidan Mauer (FR/Poughkeepsie, NY) earned a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:12.75). He later teamed up with George Weisner (JR/Bluffton, SC) for a combined seven Purchase points in the 100-yard butterfly. Weisner finished second overall with a time of 1:05.18 and Mauer placed third at 1:07.51.

Purchase returns to action next Monday (Nov. 18) at home, when the Panthers welcome Lehman College to the pool for a 6 p.m. start.
