Brienne Westfall (FR/Grand Island, NY) continued her stellar start to the 2019-20 campaign, as the freshman won three events on the night. The first came in the 200-free, as she easily cruised to a first-place finish. A few races later, she breezed in the 100-fly, before capping off her night with a dominating performance in the 500-free.
However, Westfall wasn't the only Panther to enjoy success in the victory.
Lizzie Cartwright (FR/Middletown, NY) collected the first win of the meet for Purchase, as she easily took the 1000-free.
Mackenzie Gunning (SO/Wantagh, NY) then grabbed the gold in the 50-free, while
Alexandra Palermo (JR/Rye, NY) secured first in the 100-free.
Samantha Schnupp (JR/New York, NY) collected the top spot in the 100-back, before the Panthers closed out the night with a photo-finish victory in the 200-free relay. The quartet of Cartwright, Schnupp,
Kelly Duggan (FR/Monroe, NY) and Palermo fell behind midway through the race, but managed to rally back and edge Brooklyn by 53 hundredths of a second.
Overall, the women took first in the eight of the 11 events at the meet.
Up next for the Panthers is more home action, as they host William Paterson University on November 12th at 6 p.m.Â
