BRONXVILLE, NY – The Purchase College women's swim team split with a pair of Skyline Conference competitors at the Campbell Sports Center Tuesday evening. The Panthers edged out the host Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence College, 64-63, and fell to league powerhouse U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, 114-30.

Purchase scored in the meet-opening 200 medley relay with a third-place effort.
Mackenzie Gunning (SO/Wantagh, NY),
Diana Gilday (SO/Bellrose, NY),
Samantha Schnupp (JR/New York, NY) and
Alicia McMilan (SO/Rye, NY) clocked in at 2:31.72 to earn PC's first win of the night over Sarah Lawrence.
Standout rookie
Brienne Westfall (FR/Grand Island, NY) kept the Panther run going in the 200-yard freestyle. She took third against USMMA but earned the top spot against Gryphon opponents after finishing with a personal-best time of 2:15.55.
Gunning placed third overall in the 50-free with a notable PR time of 31.32, while
Kelly Duggan (FR/Monroe, NY) swam to a second-place finish in the 100-free (1:28.23).
Purchase and Sarah Lawrence exchanged the lead throughout the entire meet with the Gryphons holding a 10-point advantage heading into the final event. Schnupp, Westfall, Gunning and Gilday teamed up for the 400-yard finale and earned the Panther victory with a combined time of 4:40.37.
Up next, Purchase will head to Newburgh, NY for a Skyline quad-meet hosted by Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday.
