For the season, the Panthers are now 6-8 overall with three wins against Old Westbury. However, the other victory was a nice bounce-back effort for Purchase, as the squad had lost to the Bears of SJC-Brooklyn, 101-62, back in November.
Freshman
Brienne Westfall (Grand Island, NY) powered the Panthers in the effort, as she collected the only first-place finish and a trio of second-place results. The win came in her first event of the day, the 200-IM, where she finished with a time 2:30.59.
She then placed second in the 100-fly with a time of 1:11.22 and the 50-fly with a time of 30.94. In each race, she was less than a second behind the first-place finisher.
Her final result of the day came in the 400-free relay, as Westfall teamed up with
Mackenzie Gunning (SO/Wantagh, NY),
Alexandra Palermo (JR, Rye, NY) and
Samantha Schnupp (JR/New York, NY) for another second-place finish.
Schnupp provided the other "medals" on the day, as she secured a pair of third-place finishes in the 100-IM and the 100-back.
The Panthers will now have more than a month off for the winter break, before returning to the pool at York College on January 21st. That meet is set for 6 p.m. and you can follow along right here.
