NEW HAVEN, CT - The Purchase College men's golf team suffered defeat in the opening match of the 2019 season Friday afternoon, as the Panthers fell to Albertus Magnus College, 359-340.

Individually, Simon Montalvo (SO/New York, NY) finished with the best mark of the day, as his par 72 was five strokes better than any other golfer.

Will Burger (JR/Albany, NY) shot 85, good enough for the third lowest total, and Matthew Girardi (JR/Pound Lake, NY) tallied a 96. 

For Albertus Magnus, Ryan Sember (JR/Branford, CT) recorded a team-best 77 in the win.

Up next for the Panthers is a road matchup with Yeshiva University this weekend. Tee time in that contest is set for 11 a.m. on September 8th.
