PURCHASE, N.Y. – Purchase College shutout the visiting Pratt Institute Cannoneers, 3-0, on Monday to conclude the non-conference potion of its 2021 campaign.
Prior to the game, the host Panthers (4-6) celebrated their six seniors with a Senior Night ceremony.
Rebecca Colgan (Valley Stream, NY),
Katie Borger (Bellmore, NY),
Allie Scarpa (Vineland, NJ),
Brianny Marin (Port Chester, NY),
Juliet Papadopoulos (Staten Island, NY) and
Diana Gilday (Bellrose, NY) were individually recognized for their accomplishments both on and off the field.
Purchase junior attacker
Kristen Purcell (Sauquoit, NY) broke the scoring in the 5th minute, taking a pass from Colgan and sinking a shot inside the far post.
The Panthers doubled their lead in the 33rd minute—again from the dynamic duo of Colgan and Purcell. Colgan tipped a loose ball inside the 18-yard box and found the feet of Purcell, who sent a far-post shot sailing out of reach from Pratt netminder Casey O'Connor.
Purchase's momentum continued to ignite in the second half as the Panthers delivered the dagger in the 84th minute. With the assist from junior midfielder
Lauren Pudelka (Danbury, CT), Purcell ripped a shot from 12 yards to the upper right side of the net. The tally awarded Purcell her second hat trick of the season.
The Panther's held the 3-0 advantage for the remainder of the game to secure the non-conference victory.
Picking up her first collegiate shutout in net for Purchase,
Haley Cascio (SO/Deer Park, NY) finished the game with 10 saves.
The Panthers return to Skyline action this Saturday with a road game in Farmingdale, NY against The College at Old Westbury. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.
