In 2018 as a freshman, Ben finished with the third-most points (30), as he tallied 17 goals and 13 assists over 14 games. His 86 shots and 46 shots-on-goal ranked second and third respectively among the Panthers.

While his offensive numbers were nice, Erkan really contributed to the Panthers as the team's main face-off guy. For the season, he went 118-for-255 on face-offs, winning 46.3 percentage overall. The Bellport native also led Purchase in ground balls with 76 and tallied nine caused turnovers, which tied for the third most.

Good things continued in year two for Erkan, as he once again finished with the third-most points for the Panthers with 28. He got there by tallying 21 goals, which were the second-most scored and seven assists. Ben also finished second in shots with 124 and shots-on-goal with 62 for the 2019 campaign.

Following the notable shift to more offensive chances for Erkan, he took a step back from his role as the team's leading face-off player, though he still served as the second option. As a result, he finished his sophomore year with a 48.5 winning percentage, going 33-for-62.

Defensively, Ben improved his production to the tune of 14 caused turnovers and recorded the second-most ground balls with 38. With Erkan leading the way, Purchase improved its play across the board and set a program-record for wins in a season with six.

As Erkan and the Panthers approached the 2020 campaign, they were looking to continue the success of their best season yet and build off of it.

Things started off pretty good for Erkan, as he was named a tri-captain as a junior. On the field, the team managed to split its opening pair of games by beating Albertus Magnus College in overtime, 7-6, before falling in double OT to SUNY New Paltz, 9-8.

Sadly, that was all the Panthers got to play before having the season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite that though, Ben still showed he was primed and ready for a breakout year.

Over the pair of contests, he finished with team-high totals in points (seven), assists (three), shots (25), shots on goal (13), and face-off percentage (66.7). He was later named to the Skyline Conference Weekly Honor Roll and the Long Island Lacrosse Journal's List of Top Juniors for his efforts.

As Erkan and the Panthers now approach the start of the 2021 season, the Bellport native was selected once again by head coach Michael Bocklet to lead the team as a captain.

Therefore, the two-time captain and the rest of the men's lacrosse team are set to take the field on March 19th, as they host Farmingdale State College in the opening contest of the year.
