PATCHOGUE, NY – The Purchase men's and women's swim team took to the road Saturday, competing at Skyline rival St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.).
The competition level was high across the board Saturday. Purchase fought hard for every point on the table, but unfortunately both teams fell short of a win.
The women's side—a tri-meet between the Panthers, host Golden Eagles and Mount Saint Mary College—closed with the home team besting both visiting teams. SJU bested PC 136-35 and held on in a closer matchup against MSMC, 93-86. The head-to-head result between MSMC and the Panthers was 106-50 in favor of the Knights.
Without a men's swim program at St. Joe's, the visiting teams competed in a single dual meet. Mount Saint Mary took home the head-to-head victory, 70-64.
"The teams performances showed improvement from the last two meets for both the men and women," Panther head coach J. Brian Hansbury said.
The duo of senior Eli Stiewing (27.08) and sophomore Jules Cabirol (28.58) captured first and second place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle.
"50 and 100 free events...something we don't see often, just shows that the work is being done and results will follow," added Hansbury.
Purchase dives back into action on Wednesday (Nov. 16), playing host to John Jay College for a non-conference women's dual at 6 p.m.
