PURCHASE, N.Y. –
Chloe McDonald,
Piper Savage and
Brienne Westfall paced the Purchase College women's team on Wednesday night. The trio combined for four first-place finishes in individual events to keep the non-conference dual against John Jay College close from start to finish.
Despite a valiant effort, Purchase suffered a narrow 93-83 loss to the visiting Bloodhounds.
Results
McDonald (FR/Highland Falls, NY) opened up the individual scoring with a commanding first-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle. The rookie standout clocked in at 14:45.07—three minutes faster than John Jay's Julia Murray (7:45.97) who finished in second place.
Savage (FR/Port Chester, NY) delivered in the next event (200-free) with a time of 2:59.13.
Westfall (SR/Grand Island, NY) closed out the No. 1 finishes for Purchase in the 200-IM (2:32.39) and 500-free (6:09.81), respectively.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of
Jessica Scott (SO/Elmsford, NY),
Ryan Balbuena (JR/Bronx, NY),
Alison Salinas (JR/West Hempstead, NY) and
Reece Brooks (SR/Schuylerville, NY) aided the Panther scoring with a first-place finish in the finale.
The Panthers will continue their non-conference slate next Monday (Nov. 21) at Lehman College, 6 p.m. start.
