NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Purchase College men's and women's swim programs took to the lanes for a regular season road finale at Mount Saint Mary College Saturday afternoon. The men's team split its tri-meet, posting a 93-66 victory over Brooklyn College before falling to the host Knights, 89-75. In the women's quad competition, the Panthers were tagged with 99-54, 81-73, and 74-72 losses to MSMC, John Jay and Brooklyn, respectively.
RESULTS
The Panthers opened strong with top finishes in the 200-yard individual medley relays. On the women's side,
Chloe McDonald,
Jessica Scott,
Brienne Westfall and
Piper Savage clocked in at 1:22.96 before Nicholas Switalski, Tyler Perpall Aidan Mauer, Aidan and Daniel Karpf combined for a 2:05.80 finish for the Panther men.
Perpall, Eli Stiewing and Jules Cabirol later collected second, third and fourth place finishes, respectively, in the 50-freestyle.
Another bright spot for Purchase was Westfall's second-place finish in the 100-backstroke. The Panther senior hit the pad at 1:10.69, less than a second behind MSMC's Stef Summer (1:10.10).
Matthias Schmidt finished second in the 100-breaststroke (1:11.29) to conclude the individual highlights for Purchase.
