Salerno Homers in Loss Against Farmingdale

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The Purchase College softball team dropped both games of a Sunday afternoon doubleheader against Farmingdale State College.

With the results, the Blue and Orange dropped to 7-7 overall and 1-3 in the conference, while the Rams improved to 14-10 and remained undefeated in the conference 6-0.

Game One: FSC 15, Purchase 0 (6 inn.)

The Panthers held Farmingdale scoreless through the first two innings, but the Rams broke through in the top of the third with four runs and never looked back. A massive eight-run sixth inning sealed the run-rule victory after six frames.

Purchase tallied four hits in the game, including two from Sariah Sanchez (FY/Eastvale, CA), but couldn't convert them into runs.

Sam Christopher (SO/North Babylon, NY) took the loss in the circle and now stands at 3-3 on the season.

Game Two: FSC 6, Purchase 1 (7 inn.)

The Panthers jumped out to an early lead in Game Two as Tyler Salerno (SO/Kings Park, NY) launched her first home run of the season in the bottom of the second inning.

The Rams answered with a run in the third to tie it, then pulled away with five runs over the final four innings to secure the sweep.

Purchase again finished with four hits—one apiece from Salerno, Sanchez, Christopher, and Halle Greaige (SO/Rye Brook, NY).

On the mound, Liv Goff (SO/Syracuse, NY) surrendered nine hits and five earned runs while striking out two, dropping to 3-4 on the season.

The Blue and Orange return to action on April 15 when they travel to Anderson Hill Road rival Manhattanville College for a conference doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
