PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College softball team dropped both games of a Skyline Conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon against Mount Saint Mary College.
With the results, the Blue and Orange dropped to 7-11 overall and 1-7 in the conference, while the Knights improved to 4-14 and 2-2, respectively.
Game One: MSMC 13, Purchase 4 ( 5 inn.)
Mount Saint Mary erupted for 12 runs in the second inning to take control early.
Purchase rallied in the fifth, stringing together four runs on RBI hits from
Cameron Wright (FY/Portland, OR),
Sam Christopher (SO/North Babylon, NY), and
Arielle Reddick (FY/Fishkill, NY), but it wasn't enough to extend the game. Sanchez, Christopher and Reddick each had doubles and combined for three RBIs.
In the circle, Christopher (3–5) took the loss after allowing eight runs in 1.2 innings.
Liv Goff (SO/Syracuse, NY) pitched 3.1 innings of relief.
Game Two: MSMC 13, Purchase 4 ( 7Â inn.)
In game two, the Panthers were again stung by a big inning, this time a five-run fourth from the visitors.
Purchase plated both of its runs in the fourth, sparked by a throwing error that allowed
Becca Bronzi (SR/Lagrangeville, NY) to score, followed by a
Kelly Jennings (JR/Yorktown Heights, NY) RBI groundout.
As the starting pitcher, Goff (3–6) completed 7.0 innings, surrendering 11 runs on 11 hits.
Up next, the Blue and Orange travel to Sarah Lawrennce on April 17 for an afternoon doubleheader starting at noon.
