Panthers Stopped by Mount Saint Vincent

BRONX, N.Y. - The Purchase College softball team traveled to Fordham University's Bahoshy Softball Field Thursday night to take on the University of Mount Saint Vincent (UMSV) in a Skyline Conference doubleheader.

The Panthers dropped both games, falling to 11-15 overall and 5-11 in the conference, while the Dolphins improved to 17-18 and 9-7, respectively.

Game One: UMSV 8, Purchase 0 (7 inn.)

Despite a strong start from pitcher Liv Goff (SO/Syracuse, NY), the Blue and Orange were held scoreless in the opener. Goff (4-7) pitched 6.2 innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits before Sam Christopher (SO/North Babylon, NY) entered in relief.

UMSV broke a scoreless tie in the fourth and pulled away with a five-run fifth inning to steal the game.

Offensively, the Panthers were limited to two hits—one each from Sariah Sanchez (FY/Eastvale, CA) and Arielle Reddick (FY/Fishkill, NY).

Game Two: UMSV 10, Purchase 1 (6 inn.)

The hosts showed more spark in Game Two, keeping pace through four innings before a late-game surge by the Dolphins sealed the sweep.

Mel Harper (SO/East Patchogue, NY) put Purchase on the board with a fifth-inning RBI single that scored Halle Greaige (SO/Rye Brook, NY).

Christopher (5-7) took the loss in the circle, while the Panthers tallied four hits in the effort.

Up next, the Blue and Orange will wrap up their regular season on May 2 with a home doubleheader against St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn. First pitch is set for 11 a.m., with Senior Day festivities taking place between games.
