PURCHASE, N.Y. - The SUNY Purchase cross country teams participated in their annual invitational Saturday afternoon, as they welcomed 23 teams and schools to campus to make the event a huge success.

Men's

On the day, the men's team finished 11th out of 12 teams, as it tallied 263 points total. In first place, United States Merchant Marine Academy won with 36 points.

Individually, Alexander Carbo (SR/Hopedale, MA) was the Panthers' top finisher, as he came in 38th out of 100 runners. He crossed the finish line in 24:02.5.

Following behind was Jaydhen Duran (FY/Bronx, NY) and Kevin Sanguina (JR/Patterson, NY) in second and third place, respectively.

Finally, Jack Sherman (FY/Scarsdale, NY) and Nicholas Contreras (FY/Levittown, NY) rounded out the finishers for the Blue and Orange.

Women's

On the women's side, the Panthers did not place due to only having four runners. Taking first place was St. Thomas Aquinas, who took the crown with 35 points.

Individually, Flora Parker-Myers (SO/Kingston, NY) led the way with an eighth-place finish out of 93 runners, as she finished with a time of 17:11.5.

Joining the effort for Purchase was Madeline Ortiz (JR/Yonkers, NY), Talullah McColgin (FY) and Ashley Santiago (JR/Poughkeepsie, NY).

Up next for the cross country teams is the LIU Invitational on September 18th at 10 a.m.
