Brooklyn, NY
(Apr. 20, 2012) – Resuming its split twin bill a week after game one, Purchase baseball topped NYU-POLY 11-7 on the road Friday afternoon.
The victory, coupled with a pair of losses by SUNY Maritime, has the Panthers on the brink of a postseason berth if the team can sweep Saturday's action with Mount Saint Mary at home – the final regular season games of 2012. A week after trouncing NYU-POLY 32-10, Purchase rallied against the Fighting Blue Jays to keep its postseason chances alive.
Each team scored a run in the first, but the Panthers netted five in a huge third inning, adding single runs in the fourth and sixth before breaking it open in a three-run seventh. NYU-POLY cut it to 7-5, but the seventh put some space between the Panthers and the hosts.
