Purchase, NY
(Apr. 13, 2014) – The Purchase baseball team went 4-0 this weekend, defeating SUNY Maritime 14-2 and 5-1 Saturday afternoon and the College of Mount Saint Vincent, 7-0 and 4-3, in doubleheader action Sunday.
With the wins, the Panthers are now 11-8 overall and 8-3 in the Skyline Conference.

Leandro Francisco (SR/Bedford Hills, NY) went 4 for 5 with five RBI and a stolen base. Teammate
Michael Sarni (SR/Shelton, CT) chipped in with three hits off four at-bats and two stolen bases.
Purchase opened up the first inning with four runs and then earned another four in the fourth inning, including two homeruns by
Ronald Echavarria (SR/Bronx, NY) and
John Jonas (SR/Goshen, NY).
Frank Fantino (JR/Nanuet, NY) pitched 5.2 innings to take the win for Purchase.
In game two, Maritime scored the first run of the game in the fourth inning after Matthew Sollin homered to center field. Purchase tied it up in the top of the sixth off a Jonas RBI single which brought
Michael Piekarczyk (FR/Dudley, MA) in to score.
Purchase scored another four runs and held off Maritime in the seventh to end the game, 5-1, in favor of the Panthers.
Christian Knochen (JR/Cornwall) started on the mound for Purchase and allowed only three hits and one run in 6.2 innings.
Purchase vs. Mount Saint Vincent
Box Score - Game OneBox Score - Game TwoThe Panthers took a commanding 7-0 win against the Dolphins of Mount Saint Vincent in game one of Sunday's doubleheader. They had multiple scoring innings including a three-run fourth inning which gave Purchase a 5-0 edge over the Dolphins.
Michael Skoller (SR/East Meadow, NY) went 4 for 5 with two RBI, a double and two stolen bases to lead the Panther offense. Echavarria also doubled which brought in the first run of the game in the first inning.
On the mound,
Adam Brant (SO/Hyde Park, NY) earned his second win of the season. He allowed only two hits, two walks and struck out two in seven innings of action.
In game two, the Dolphins came close to taking the lead in the third and seventh inning. Two runs in the top of the third tied up the score 2-2 but an unassisted play by Panther first baseman Piekarczyk ended the inning.
The Panthers answered back during the bottom half of the inning after a Skoller and Piekarczyk RBI groundout brought teammates
Aryn Giddens (SR/Queens, NY) and Sarni in to score.
Purchase led, 4-2, heading into the top of the seventh. The Dolphins earned their third and final run after Leutrim Hoxha hit into a double play, bringing teammate Mike Esposito in to score. Purchase third baseman
Teofilo Ramirez (SO/Queens, NY) ended the game with a ground ball play to first base.
Panther offensive action included singles from Sarni,
Elan Trischitta (JR/Saugerties, NY) and Giddens and a double by
Dan Lombardo (FR/Oceanside, NY).
Chris Nast (JR/Pound Ridge, NY), now 4-1 overall, earned the win after pitching 5.2 innings. The left hander gave up four hits and two runs while striking out three.
The Panthers return to action on Tuesday as they host St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn in a non-conference 9 inning game.
