(Mar. 23, 2015) - The Purchase baseball team took on the Rutgers-Newark in a non-conference road game Monday evening and walked away with a 6-3 victory.
With the win, the Panthers advance their record to 3-1 overall while the Scarlet Raiders drop to 4-7.Â
After Purchase scored an insurance run in the top of the ninth off relief pitcher Dominick Fazio, the Scarlet Raiders scored again in the ninth, but couldn't get any closer. Freshman centerfielder Anthony Perconte walked and came around to score on an error.

Chris Triano (JR/Greenwich, CT).Â
Â
Triano led the way for the Panthers with three hits on five at bats. His RBI count brought in the first two Purchase runs as the Panthers cruised to victory, never giving up the lead for the remainder of the game.Â

Andrew Fingerhut (SO/Smithtown, NY) capped off the final 1.2, earning the team's first save of the season.
