Purchase, NY (April 18, 2015) – The Purchase baseball team went 1-1 in a Skyline Conference doubleheader against Maritime College at home on Saturday afternoon. Before the opener, the Panthers honored seniors

Elan Trischitta (Saugerties, NY) for their time and dedication to the program over the past seasons.
Sophomore
Miguel Reyes (Bronx, NY) recorded seven strikeouts over nine innings to lead Purchase to a 5-2 victory in the opener. The Privateers picked up a 3-1 win in Game 2.
Purchase (9-11, 5-5 SKY) got on the scoreboard first in the opener on a
Chris Triano (JR/Greenwich, CT) homer over the left field wall in the first inning. The center fielder tallied another bomber to left field in the bottom of the third, bringing
Teofilo Ramirez (JR/Queens, NY) in from second base to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead heading into the fourth inning.
Maritime (9-14, 4-6 SKY) answered back in the top of the fourth with a run scored off a double play. Matthew Sollin doubled to start off the inning and reached third off a single hit to center field by Albert Doerbecker. Aaron Schiavoni then hit to the shortstop, who threw to second, followed by a throw to first base for the double play.
Purchase went on to score a run in the fifth and another in the sixth inning. The Panther defense held the Privateers scoreless until the top of the ninth. Maritime tallied one run on two hits in the final inning, giving the Panthers a 5-2 edge at the end of Game 1.
Reyes pitched a complete game on the mound, giving up two runs on nine hits. He advances his season record to 3-2 overall.
Maritime's Ryan Alsdorf (2-3) was tagged with the loss after giving up five runs on 11 hits after seven innings on the mound.
In Game 2, Maritime opened up the scoring with a runs in the first, second and fifth innings. Brian McLaughlin went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored to lead the Privateer offense in the game.
Purchase scored its only run in the bottom of the sixth. Triano tripled to start off the inning and came around to score off a
Nick Kulbaba (JR/Suffern, NY) RBI sacrifice fly to center field.
The visitors' starting pitcher, Eric Kwiecinski, tallied his first win of the season after holding the opposing lineup scoreless for five straight innings. Kwiecinski gave up just one run on seven hits while striking out one batter over 5.2 innings of action. Relief pitcher Anthony D'Ancona earned his first save of the season after closing out the final 1.1 innings.
Knochen pitched a complete game for the Panthers but despite his efforts, he was tagged with the loss. He gave up three runs on nine hits with four walks and two strikeouts.
Today's doubleheader marked the final home contest for Purchase. The Panthers return to action tomorrow with a league doubleheader at Farmingdale State. First pitch of Game 1 is scheduled for noon.
