Purchase, NY (Sept. 8, 2016) – Purchase College women's tennis was defeated by Baruch College. 6-3, in the first home match of the season this afternoon.  The Panthers secured just one match in singles and two in doubles play.   

Purchase newcomer Abigail Cuddy (SO/Mount Kisco, NY) dominated in her match against Maria Scherbakova, 6-1 and 6-2, to record the team's only singles victory on the day from the No. 6 position. 

In doubles action, Catherine Pasquale (JR/Valhalla, NY) and rookie Sofia Rapisarda (FR/Brooklyn, NY) defeated Baruch's Hayley Bester and Brooke Severance, 8-1, at the No. 2 spot.  Purchase picked up another 8-1 victory at third doubles after an impressive performance by Cuddy and Cailey McKenna (FR/Manorville, NY).

The Bearcats are now 1-0 after their season-opening win, while the Panthers drop to 0-2 overall.

Purchase will look to pick up its first win on Saturday at St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn).  The Skyline Conference match is set to start at 1 p.m.
