(Jan. 29, 2012) – Purchase men's volleyball opened their season at Albany on Sunday, falling to Yeshiva University and the College of Mt. St. Vincent in a tri-match.
The Panthers lost 3-1 to the Maccabees – (25-18, 25-19, 24-26, 25-18) – and in straight sets (25-23, 25-17, 25-17) to the Dolphins to conclude Sunday's action at the Kalh Center. Although Purchase came up short in both ends, each of the sets was very close, with the Panthers starting strong in their season-opening matches.
Kevon Kareem Bruce (SR/Hayes, Jamaica) led the way in both matches, recording eight kills apiece.
Taylor Edelmann (JR/Bethel, CT) contributed five kills in the loss to Yeshiva. Setter
Alex Billen-Calhoun (JR/Niskayuna, NY) also played well Sunday, recording match highs in assists.
The Panthers will look to bounce back Tuesday (1/31) when they return to Purchase for their home opener.
