Purchase, NY (Feb. 12, 2012) – The additions of New Jersey City University and Ramapo College certainly made the Skyline Conference more competitive in 2012.

It has also made it more difficult to climb the league standings – a fact host Purchase College witnessed firsthand Sunday morning and afternoon as the Panthers dropped both ends of a Skyline Quad Match to regional powers NJCU and Ramapo. The two dynamos swept the Panthers in straight sets, despite some very solid play and a few close set finals.

NJCU defeated the Panthers 25-9, 25-10, 25-17, while Ramapo earned a 25-7, 25-19, 25-10 decision. The Gothic Knights and Ramapo also defeated Yeshiva University in the early and late afternoon matches.

Purchase (1-5, 0-5 Skyline) was led by Kevon Kareem Bruce (SR/Hayes, Jamaica), who scored two kills in the loss to Ramapo and another two in the defeat to NJCU. Mateo Morel (SR/Bronx, NY) paced the Panthers with three kills against NJCU. Alex Billen-Calhoun (JR/Niskayuna, NY) handed out a total of 11 assists over the two matches.

Up next, the Panthers will face NJCU on Tuesday in New Jersey. Purchase will look to bounce back from today's two defeats in the 7 p.m. start.
