(Feb. 15, 2012) – Purchase spoiled Yeshiva's Senior Night Wednesday on the road, upending its longtime rival, 69-48, as the Panthers continue their march toward the Skyline Conference Tournament with their eyes on their third straight league crown.
The two-time defending Skyline champs featured a balanced attack, led by
D.J. Smith and
John Pressley, who scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Amar Reynolds added nine off the bench.
The Panthers jumped out to a comfortable 34-21 lead at the break and skated to a 21-point victory.
Yeshiva recognized four student-athletes who will be graduating this semester. Senior Omer Haim led the team with nine assists, improving his season average to 6.8 in conference play. He currently sits atop the league in that category. Chen Biron knocked down a pair of treys, finishing the game with seven points. Gil Bash led the team with 12 points.
Yeshiva struggled early on, missing their first five shots from the field and trailed 17-2 with 13 minutes to play in the half as the athletic Panther defense flashed its brilliance.
Despite five quick points to open the second half, the Macs were unable to mount a comeback and Purchase led by double figures the rest of the way.
